Shopping with food allergies in mind is a whole lot easier with the easy-to-read allergy labels on the back of our products.
Look out for the allergy advice on our products
Due to changes in food labelling law, we are required to change our allergy labelling and allergy advice boxes. We are legally required to declare the presence of certain allergens when they are included in the recipe.

Our allergy labels
All allergens are now highlighted in bold in the main ingredients list on the back of product packs. They were previously listed in a separate ‘allergy information’ box.
What is a food allergy or intolerance?
Which ingredients are marked?
The allergens bolded in the ingredients list are:
Peanuts, nuts, sesame, crustaceans, fish, milk, egg, celery, mustard, wheat, rye, barley, oat, spelt, kamut®, soya, sulphites, molluscs.
Where there is a real risk of products coming into contact with ingredients that could put a customer with an allergy at risk, you’ll see one of the following phrases on our packaging:
Allergy advice: For allergens, see ingredients in bold. Also not suitable for customers with an allergy to egg, milk or peanuts due to manufacturing methods.
Allergy advice: Not suitable for customers with an allergy to egg, milk or peanuts due to manufacturing methods.
The most up-to-date allergy information is always on the product packaging.
Product guidance lists
Shopping with an allergy or intolerance can be difficult, especially if you are newly diagnosed. Each month, we provide updated product guidance lists of Sainsbury’s own-brand products that are made without certain ingredients such as milk, egg, nuts, peanuts and gluten.
